Once again, the owners, staff, and clients of VisionQuest Wealth Management helped to make the holidays a little brighter for some young patients at WakeMed Children's Hospital. On Friday, December 16, the "Elf" and her helpers delivered toys to very excited girls and boys.

There was never any question that VisionQuest Wealth Management, a firm serving as Personal CFO to individuals, families, and business owners, would give back to the community, it was just a question of how. Their executive management team looked at a unique approach and it has served them well. "I wanted my team to be passionate about giving back to the community through our firm" says Steve Peters, President and CEO of VisionQuest. "I wanted to create an environment where giving back is heartfelt."

The VisionQuest team has built relationships with charities that are personal and special to them. Jessie Hrivnak, Director of Service, serves as a coach and mentor with the Washington D.C. Chapter of Girls on the Run (GOTR), a character development program designed to encourage a healthy lifestyle for young girls ages 8 through 13. The national program was recently featured on NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams as part of the network's "Giving Back" series.  "The way GOTR focuses on building self-esteem and empowerment for young girls is what led me to want to work with them" says Hrivnak. "The idea of helping create a foundation for these girls to believe that they can go and do anything that they dream of was so appealing to me. Throw in the curriculum of how to live a healthy and active lifestyle was just the icing on the cake."  Hrivnak's role (as a coach) includes two meetings a week with lesson plans that foster self esteem, friendship, values, and courage. After each lesson plan, the girls warm-up and run to prepare for the end of season 5k which they run with their team and all other local GOTR chapters.

"The warmth, encouragement, and discipline that Jessie has shown to the girls during her tenure as a coach is so gratifying as a parent" shared Lely Constantinople. "The bond that my daughter feels to her coaches is priceless; they served as such positive role models for her and for that we are grateful."

In addition to Hrivnak's participation in Girls on the Run, Director of Operations, Nick Kolbenschlag has been active in charities that focus on raising funds for Multiple Sclerosis. "Coming from a family where MS has impacted us directly, it's an honor to be able to give back to organizations that support families like mine" says Kolbenschlag.

"I am proud of my team for the way that they have embraced the self-motivating model of giving back to our community" says Peters. "It is clear to me that allowing them to follow their passions while representing our firm was the right model for us."
